Richmond Bacon Festival Returns For Second Year This Sunday

Richmond Bacon Festival returns for its second year this Sunday June 8th from 11am to 5pm at the 17th St Farmers Market in Shockoe Bottom.  To combat the overcrowding that plagued the event last year, organizers have more than doubled the venue to now include 17th from Main St. to Grace Street, West to Ambler St. and East to 18th St.  Two separate beer trucks on Grace and Franklin streets are another improvement as shown on the map below.

You can take a look at all of the bacon dishes to be served below but here are a few dishes I am particularly intrigued by:

  • Alchemy Coffee – Maple bacon latte
  • Dash – Hawaiian grilled cheese w/ bacon, pork belly, pineapple & swiss
  • Gelati Celesti – Maple waffles & bacon ice cream  or  Salted caramel bacon brownie ice cream
  • Halligan’s Bar & Grill  – Twice smoked bacon wrapped black angus beef brisket
  • King of Pops – Chocolate bacon ice pops or Cookies N’ Cream & bacon ice pops
  • Mosaic – Pork meatball sliders w/ smokey bacon blue cheese

Second Carytown Craft Beer Festival Moves To The Diamond This Saturday

Carytown Craft Beer Festival moves to The Diamond for its second year this Saturday June 7th from noon to 6pm.  Tickets are $25/$50 (GA/VIP) in advance and include a souvenir pint glass (while supplies last) and unlimited sampling of over 40 different craft beers.  VIP ticket holders will be able to start sampling an hour early (11am) and will have access to a separate tent to relax in throughout the day.

Italian Beer Dinner Tomorrow At Secco Wine Bar

Yes, Secco Wine Bar, the place that brought us beer brunch, is hosting a beer dinner tomorrow Tuesday April 8th at 6:30pm featuring beers out of the Piedmont region of Italy.  Ron Fischer of B. United Imports will be the host for the dinner with pairings from Chef Mike Braune.  Take a look at what is sure to be a delicious menu.

MENU

FIRST COURSE
Birra Baladin “Isaac” (light, citrusy blanche)
baked mozzarella piccata

SECOND COURSE
Grado Plato “Strada S. Felice” (amber brewed with chestnuts)
chestnut spaetzle with peas, poached egg, serrano ham jus

THIRD COURSE
Birrificio Montegiaco Lover Beer “Madamin” (deep amber barrel aged sour)
grilled veal sweetbreads with olive butter-poached tuna, fennel salad

FOURTH COURSE
Birra Baladin “Etruska” (their spiced, malty, barrrel-aged version of a 3-part cooperative, multi-brewery quest for an ancient beer recipe)
barley risotto with hazelnuts, scallion, brown butter

FIFTH COURSE
Grado Plato “Cantus Caeli” (beer-wine-mead hybrid aged in oak)
duck confit with currant jam, duck fat potatoes, honey gastrique

Forecast: Slightly Cloudy With 100% Chance of Food Trucks At Hardywood Tonight

That’s right! Hardywood’s Food Truck Court is back tonight Thursday April 3rd starting at 5:30pm.  Court will continue every Thursday until the end of October.

Hello Hardywood friends! Richmond’s much-loved Thursday night Hardywood Food Truck Courts are back at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery starting this upcoming Thursday, April 3 from 5:30 – 9:00 pm and every Thursday until the end of October! “We’re excited to present an eclectic group of favorites and diverse new vendors this season. Every week of the season will be a little bit different. I hope you’ll enjoy their community as much as I do and get to know each one as they share their craft and passion with you,” says Hardywood Hospitality Manager Kerry Anderson.

For the season kick-off, guests can expect 16 different food trucks, plus live music by The Shangri-Lords (RVA’s 1960’s girl group send-up) and The Rocket Queens (A world-class, all-female tribute to Guns N Roses out of NYC).

This season will feature crowd favorites like Boka Tako Truck, Goatocado, Pizza Tonight, and King of Pops, plus crepes, tacos, vegan and gluten-free options; as well as brand new food trucks, reflecting a range of cuisines from Greek to Vietnamese.

Improved scenery and additional restrooms (coming soon!) promise to make this the best season yet for what has become a world-class beer and food experience in Richmond, VA. This is an admission-free, family-friendly event. All ages are welcome at the brewery. Virginia ABC law prohibits bringing outside alcoholic beverages on-site, and underage drinking will be strictly prohibited.

Lots To Love About This Goose Island Beer Dinner at Brew

Brew has pulled out all the stops for their first beer dinner on Thursday March 20th at 6:30pm.  They have teamed up with Goose Island for a dinner featuring ten of their beers including four from their Bourbon County line.  Check out the menu and make your reservations now.
