RVA Beer Week: Richmond Brewers United Decending Upon Carytown Tonight
We’re only a few days into this marathon we call RVA Beer Week but tonight is when the real fun begins. Coincidentially, tonight is also the night to have multiple events in many locations where choosing one over the other may seem like losing. I assure you though there are no losers during this week. Hell, you can join in at home just by popping open a bottle you have been saving from your favorite local shop.
On to tonight’s business. Tonight Monday, November 4th Richmond’s local breweries have united in a show of support for Carytown restaurants for the first ever RVA Brewers Parade. Look for them to be hitting the streets of Carytown around 6pm starting at Portait House; they will stay at each location for about 30 minutes. Want to join them? In celebration of April Fools’ Day, Taste the Local has designed a pin crawl with the intent to fool you.
Here’s the rub: The first three stops will feature a pin of Devils Backbone beer, each with a “mystery” ingredient. We’ll tell you the base beer but you have to guess what’s in it. All votes will be tallied at the fourth bar, where the winner will receive a DB Prize Pack.

Train For Hardywood Twilight Four Miler With Firkin Crawl Thursday
Richmond is truly turning into such a wonderful beer town. Here I am coming off the meaty-ale high that was the Beer & Charcuterie pairing at The Room at Secco Wine Bar.
Yes, it was all delicious. It us events like this that can make it difficult to pick and choose between all the different beer, live music, and theatre events that are readily abundant and all exceptional. So here is the series of events making me miss the Hardywood Firkin Crawl this Thursday February 21st:
- Originally, I had tickets for Mary Poppins at the Landmark for Friday night.
- Burger Blast at Virginia Wine Expo is announced and I scurry to move tickets to Thursday to keep Saturday free just in case…
- Hardywood Firkin crawl is announced on Facebook. I accept forgetting I already had plans which I only remembered yesterday.
So no crawl for me but you should definitely check it out. I’m really intrigued by that Smoked IPA.
