Dark Horse Rides Into Richmond

Dark Horse Brewing rides into town this week bringing their Beer Advocate 100 rated Crooked Tree IPA along with several of their other beers. Here are a few place where you can try their beers on for size this week:

Tuesday August 21st

BlowToad will host the draft debut with a tap takeover of five Dark Horse beers:

Head to Whole Foods Short Pump at 4pm to sample some Dark Horse brews and fill your growlers.

Friday August 24th

Gingko’s Kimchi Tasting Dinner This Sunday

I will be in Washington, DC the rest of the week enjoying as many of the events I can manage leading up to Savor.  My first stop when I return to Richmond on Sunday June 10th will be Ginkgo’s Kimchi Tasting Dinner at Kitchen Thyme.  Cassie Keene has lined up  some of Richmond’s favorite local chefs to prepare a menu using 5 different types of kimchi.

Chef Tim Bereika
Secco Wine Bar
Smoked duck, cumin yogurt, shaved radish with cucumber kimchi gazpacho

Chef John Maher
Charred calamari, roasted potato, black olive puree with napa cabbage kimchi

Chef Aaron Hoskins
Braised beef brisket, fried green onions, smoked fish sauce emulsion with shaved daikon radish kimchi

Chef Ryan Evans

In addition to this intriguing menu, there will be a sampling of Hardywood Park Craft Brewery beers among others. I also hear that Chef Johnny is working on a mango hefeweizen sorbet.
