Where To Steal The Glass Tonight?

So my plans for tonight were pretty simple.  On The Rox for happy hour to celebrate SMCRVA’s 3rd birthday then Capital Ale House for their Unibroue Steal the Glass night. I was quite intrigued when I found this extensive list of recipes for all of Unibroue’s different beers.

At least that was the plan as of a few minutes ago when I learned that not only is Sedona Taphouse having a Dogfish Head tap takeover with 10 different beers, they will have a limited quantity of Positive Contact and Urkontinent.  Then Sedona drops the hammer by turning by saying they will be giving away these hand blown Dogfish Head goblets.

I’m still on the fence on where I should go tonight but I’m sure wherever I go there will be great beer involved.

Meet Hardywood On The Rox

It seems like the brewers at Hardywood are on a post-Savor victory lap around the Greater Richmond area.   First stop was Benny’s Tavern in Colonial Heights.

Join them at their next stop on Tuesday June 19th from 6 – 8pm at On the Rox in Historic Shockoe Bottom. Beers on hand for the night will be Singel, Hoplar, Bourbon Cru and a special cask conditioned pin of Hoplar. Prizes will be raffled off to benefit a local charities, Massey Cancer Center and Area 10 Global. Happy Hour specials run from 3 – 7pm including 1/2 off draft beer.  So head on out and maybe you can ask them what type of beer will get these 2500 lbs of strawberries.

Virginia Beers at Broad Appetit

Are you planning on attending Broad Appetit tomorrow, Sunday, June 3rd?  No?! Why not?!

Seriously, it is the best deal on food from the several of the best restaurants in town.  I don’t know how you can beat $3 a plate.  Oh yeah, I do! $5 for two dishes in most cases.

This will be my third year in attendance at the five year old festival but this year has me even more excited because Virginia’s craft breweries are joining in on the fun.

Now take another look at the photo above.  Ladies and gentlemen, here are just a few of the people responsible for bringing you local craft beer.

Look for the truck provided by Brown Distributing for the following beers:

  • Legend Hefeweizen

  • Starr Hill Northern Lights
  • Starr Hill Starr Pils
  • Hardywood Park Singel

  • O’Connor Red Nun
  • Roanoke Railhouse Track 1

  • Hardywood Park Bourbon Cru
  • Devils Backbone Gold Leaf Lager

The Starr Hill firkin will be tapped at noon at the start of Starr Hill’s Meet the Brewer session.

So head out for some great local food and beer as Broad Street shuts down for a party unlike any other.

Broad Appetit runs from 12 – 6pm  between Adams and Henry.  You will have fun even if you try not to.
