How is your Virginia Craft Beer Month going so far? If you’re behind, Triple Crossing has plenty of chances for you to catch up this Friday August 11th. You will just have to go to both locations if you’re trying to get everything. Starting at noon, their Fulton location will see the release of four new beers. At the same time downtown, they will be releasing their first gose, Salinity, in crowlers along with some draft only variants.

Here is the rundown on each of the beers being offered:

Heart & Soul Gets A Little Gold. Or Cuvée Gold, Now With More Soul

HeART & Soul Brew Fest returns for its second year at Hardywood this Saturday July 29th starting at 1pm. If you missed it last year, you missed some of the best soul food Richmond has to offer served with that delicious Hardywood beer. Personally, it was one of my favorite events from last year. I’ve said it before but it was very uplifting to see more African Americans like myself at a beer event even when I honestly didn’t know it was something missing from my life.

I for one look forward to getting down on some Mama J’s catfish but here is the full food lineup for this year.

Mama J’s
Croaker’s Spot Restaurants
Minibar RVA
Jus Cukn, LLC
Inner City Blues home of Carolina Bar B Que
Mo’s Sweet Minis
Ruby Scoops Ice Cream & Sweets
Soul-Ice
RVA Street Foodies

Kelli S. Lemon has the reasons you should check out each of these spots.

This year the festival will also be paired with the release of Cuvée Gold, a remix of Hardywood’s Vinalia Urbana.

Hardywood Cuvée Gold artfully blends the elegance of French wine country with the gentle and balanced characteristics of a traditional Belgian-style Golden Ale. Combining both young and mature vintages aged in freshly emptied Sauvignon Blanc barrels, Cuvée Gold offers light earthy aromatics, a subtle sweetness and a hint of toasted oak that are delightfully dry and delicate on the palate, with lasting white grape and stone fruit undertones.

Forever Summer, the Veil Brewing’s festival celebrating hoppy beers, returns for the second year Saturday August 12th. Once again the proceeds from the festival will benefit ChildSavers. There will be no after party this year so the day will be split into three sessions:

  • Session A: 11:00am – 2:00pm
  • Session B: 2:30pm – 5:30pm
  • Session C: 6:00p – 9:00p

Tickets will go on sale both online and in the Veil’s taproom this Sunday July 9th promptly at noon.

Tickets are $90(+ fees)/person  and include:

  • 1x Forever Summer Festival glassware which will be used during your session for all 3oz pours
  • 1x 3oz pours from each brewery represented

When looking to buy your tickets, pay very close attention to these rules:

2x tickets max per person. 1x ticket for you, and 1x ticket for a guest. You will not be allowed to redeem two tickets for one person. If you do not know who your guest will be, we highly suggest putting both tickets under your name. There will be no physical tickets. This event will be 100% will call list. Tickets are NON-TRANSFERABLE, NON-REFUNDABLE, **NO EXCEPTIONS**. Must have ID/CC, purchaser must be present with guest.

Breweries

With this list of breweries you can expect this festival to sell out quickly. Online tickets will probably be gone in minutes and there will be a line at the taproom. So before you go buying:

  1. make sure  you don’t already have plans you can’t change
  2.  know which session you want (A, B, or C) especially if you’re trying to coordinate with friends
  3.  remember it will not be the end of the world if tickets sell out without you getting one. There will always be other events.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream….beer. Yes, you read that right. Strangeways has collaborated with Gelati Celesti to recreate their best selling ice cream flavor of all time, Chocolate Decadence, in beer form.

More from the Facebook event:

Strangeways Brewing and Gelati Celesti Ice Cream, it’s a “Heavenly Handmade” collaboration.

Gelati Celesti Chocolate Decadence Ice Cream Stout, ABV 8.4% | IBU 16

This sinfully delicious stout was inspired by Gelati Celesti’s Chocolate Decadence, their very best seller since opening in 1984. Gelati Celesti’s customers tell them that just a single spoonful of their Chocolate Decadence ice cream is indescribably good. Rich, fudge-like, and decadent, it’s a chocoholic’s dream come true.

Pure, fresh, and natural, each batch of Gelati Celesti is made by hand with only the finest ingredients from around the world — just like Strangeways’ beers. Hence, a heavenly handmade collaboration with our friends at Gelati Celesti ensued. The result is Strangeways’ interpretation of Chocolate Decadence ice cream in a glass, a stout using some of the same ingredients that make the ice cream delectably delicious. With that, we invite you to treat yourself to a little sip of heaven!”

This beer will be available on draft and in 750ml bottles. Bottles are limited so get there early.

BEER FLOATS – Oh My!

Gelati Celesti’s Ice Cream Truck will be at Strangeways throughout the weekend, Sat. 12-4pm and Sun. 2-8pm and we will be serving up some beer floats made with their yummy ice cream.

It is hard to imagine that it has already been three years since Ardent Craft Ales opened their doors in Scott’s Addition.  I mean it feels like it was just yesterday when I was having my first tastes of Honey Ginger and Sweet Potato & Sage Saison in the Church Hill brew garage. In some ways, it feels like Ardent has always been right there. It’s as if it was preordained that they would occupy that very spot in Scott’s Addition.

Ardent will celebrate their third anniversary with a huge block party this Saturday June 17th starting at noon featuring over 20 guest beers plus bottles and draft of a special Third Anniversary Tripel.

Guest Beers

Enjoy live music throughout the day from the following bands:

Food will be available from the following vendors:

This event is free to enter and open to the public. Beverage purchases (21+) will be ticketed; $6 per ticket, with ticket sales at the door and inside the event. All food is pay-as-you-go from the individual food vendors. Event is rain or shine. No outside food, beverages, or coolers are allowed. Kids and families welcome; must be 21+ to consume alcohol.
