Second Carytown Craft Beer Festival Moves To The Diamond This Saturday

Carytown Craft Beer Festival moves to The Diamond for its second year this Saturday June 7th from noon to 6pm.  Tickets are $25/$50 (GA/VIP) in advance and include a souvenir pint glass (while supplies last) and unlimited sampling of over 40 different craft beers.  VIP ticket holders will be able to start sampling an hour early (11am) and will have access to a separate tent to relax in throughout the day.

Italian Beer Dinner Tomorrow At Secco Wine Bar

Yes, Secco Wine Bar, the place that brought us beer brunch, is hosting a beer dinner tomorrow Tuesday April 8th at 6:30pm featuring beers out of the Piedmont region of Italy.  Ron Fischer of B. United Imports will be the host for the dinner with pairings from Chef Mike Braune.  Take a look at what is sure to be a delicious menu.

FIRST COURSE
Birra Baladin “Isaac” (light, citrusy blanche)
baked mozzarella piccata

SECOND COURSE
Grado Plato “Strada S. Felice” (amber brewed with chestnuts)
chestnut spaetzle with peas, poached egg, serrano ham jus

THIRD COURSE
Birrificio Montegiaco Lover Beer “Madamin” (deep amber barrel aged sour)
grilled veal sweetbreads with olive butter-poached tuna, fennel salad

FOURTH COURSE
Birra Baladin “Etruska” (their spiced, malty, barrrel-aged version of a 3-part cooperative, multi-brewery quest for an ancient beer recipe)

Devils Backbone Vegan Beer Dinner At Postbellum Tomorrow

Osaka Sushi & Steak is hosting a Sushi and Beer Dinner next Tuesday March 11th at 6:30pm featuring Center of the Universe Brewing.  COTU’s Chris Ray will be in attendance to explain the beers being paired with each course.   Check out the menu.

Hardywood, Strangeways, & Lickinghole Creek Heading to SAVOR This May

SAVOR 2014At the same time the VA Craft Brewers Guild elected new leadership, Brewers Association announced breweries participating in this year’s SAVOR: American Craft Beer & Food Experience on May 9th & 10th in Washington, DC.  Of the seventy six participants, five breweries are from Virginia including three from the Richmond area:

Hardywood Park Craft Brewery — Richmond, VA
Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery — Goochland, VA
Port City Brewing Co — Alexandria, VA
Strangeways Brewing — Richmond, VA

Richmond will be very well represented at this year’s event. Hardywood even became a Supporting Partner for this year.  See who else made it on the list this year here. The American Homebrewers Association and Brewers Association members-only presale is March 25 with public ticket sales starting March 26.
