IThis was a lot of fun last year at Capital Ale House Downtown. I can’t make it this time but how often does Bill Cosby come to town.

Head over to Mekong today Thursday April 18th as they host the Richmond release party for Missouri brewery Perennial Artisan Ales. Perennial is a small batch brewery in St Louis, MO focusing on farmhouse ales, seasonal beers using local ingredients, and barrel aged varieties. Perennial has the adventurous craft beer drinker in mind with each batch brewed.
Here are the beers Mekong will be tapping today:
Aria — Belgian Style Ale with Brett
Saison de Lis — Belgian Style Saison
Hommel Bier — Dry-hopped Belgian Pale
Black Walnut Dunkel — Dunkel Weiss with black walnuts
Beers will be tapped at 5pm. Today, Perennial is the answer.
So I could go and try list every publication that has named Peter Chang as one of the top chefs in the country. Maybe I could tell you about how so beloved New Belgium beers are that their sucess will have them opening an East Coast brewery near Asheville, NC.
Instead I’ll just tell you Peter Chang China Cafe is hosting a New Belgium Beer Dinner next Wednesday April 24th at 6pm. You will have great food with beer pairings to match. You will enjoy every bite, even the bites where your mouth seems to be searing from the heat. As a bonus you will also be taking home some New Belgium glassware. Take a look at the menu.

With everything that has been going on, details about SAVOR in New York City June 14th & 15th almost slipped through the cracks. Here are the details from the Brewers Association if you plan on attempting to go this year:
Ticket Sale Dates:
Tuesday, April 16: Member Pre-Sale for members of the American Homebrewers Association® and the Brewers Association, 12:00 pm EDT (11:00 am CDT/10:00 am MDT/9:00 am PDT)Wednesday, April 17: Public/general ticket sale, 12:00 pm EDT (11:00 am CDT/10:00 am MDT/9:00 am PDT)
In recent years, SAVOR tickets have sold out in mere minutes, and we expect another very fast ticket sell-out in 2013. Please review this important information in advance of the ticket sale:
- Ticket pricing is posted online.
- Set up a user account on Ticketmaster now so you’ll be ready to buy when tickets go on sale
- On the date of ticket sales, go directly to the SAVOR Ticketmaster page (link will be announced soon).
- If you plan to purchase a Grand Tasting and Salon package ticket(s), choose your preferred Salons ahead of time to more quickly navigate the Ticketmaster ticket selection list. You may also purchase a Grand Tasting ticket without a Salon option.
- You will receive one ticket for each Grand Tasting ticket purchase and one ticket for each Grand Tasting + Salon ticket package purchase. In other words, if you purchase a Grand Tasting + Salon ticket package, you will not receive two tickets, just one.
Good luck to everyone trying to go. I wish I could make it myself. Between attending the Homebrewers Conference later that month and New York hotel and travel costs, I just don’t it will happen this year.
Check it out.

Better yet get a group together and make your own pub crawl. All leading up to Sunday’s Carytown Craft Beer Festival.
Head over to Capital Ale House Midlothian Friday April 12th starting at 7pm as they tap three specially made pins of Hardywood beers. Choosing anything their taste buds desired and having their choice of any Hardywood beer to use as the base, the gang at Cap Ale created the following three pins:
Hardywood’s Patrick and Eric will also be on hand for the evening. So go try these one of a kind beers along with more Hardywood Park beers. Cap Ale will also have some giveaways that evening as well. Check out the Facebook event for more information.
Monday April 15th should be an interesting night at Station 2. Three Wolf Hill beers never tapped in Richmond before plus head brewer Drake Scott will be on hand for the evening.
