Sierra Nevada’s Beer Camp Across America Making Two Richmond Stops

Bottle-LIne-up

Credit: Sierra Nevada

Sierra Nevada partnered with a dozen exceptional craft breweries to create twelve different beers for one mixed 12-pack—including 10 bottles and two cans—a first in the craft beer world. These brewers are coming towards the end of the Beer Camp Across America bus this weekend.

Until now the only way to try these beers was to either snag one of the limited 12-packs, join Virginia breweries for the Philly stop Saturday, or head south to Asheville for the final stop Sunday August 3rd.

Richmond craft beer lovers will have two chances to experience Beer Camp Across America tappings at The Broadberry tomorrow July 29th and Mekong on Monday August 11th.  The Broadberry will have Talking Heads cover band, Fear of Music playing from 7 – 9pm.

Here are the details on the twelve collaboration beers to be tapped at each location:

Myron’s Walk Belgian-Style Pale Ale — Allagash Brewing Company, Portland, ME
Tater Ridge Scottish Ale — Asheville Brewers Alliance, Asheville, NC
Electric Ray India Pale Lager — Ballast Point Brewing Company, San Diego, CA
Maillard’s Odyssey Imperial Dark Ale — Bell’s Brewery, Inc., Kalamazoo, MI
Yonder Bock Tropical Maibock — Cigar City Brewing, Tampa, FL
Torpedo Pilsner — Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Paso Robles, CA
There and Back English-Style Bitter — New Glarus Brewing Company, New Glarus, WI
Double Latte Coffee Milk Stout — Ninkasi Brewing Company, Eugene, OR
CANfusion Rye Bock — Oskar Blues Brewery, Longmont, CO/Brevard, NC

PHOTOS: National Beer Expo: Collabeerate, CRAFT, Taco Throwdown, & Grand Tasting

Last week’s Capital Ale House National Beer Expo events were a lot of fun albeit with a few first year hiccups.  All in all it was a great start to what I hope will come back bigger and better next year.  Take a look at my photos for the various events I was able to attend.

Special Richmond Brewery Tappings For National Beer Expo Tonight

National Beer ExpoRichmond area breweries are tapping some special beers in honor of the National Beer Expo today Wednesday July 16th. Most beers will be tapped at 5pm though in some cases when the breweries open.

Hardywood Centennial Wheat

Hardywood is tapping the latest beer in their Pilot Series.

American pale ale meets wheat beer in this hoppy sessionable wheat pale ale. Brewed with a 40/60 split of pale and wheat malts, hopped very generously with both Centennial and Citra hops. Lots of late kettle hop additions plus dry hopping result in a very aromatic beer. Slightly tart with lots of citrus and dank jam fruitiness. 4.8%ABV

Come in to try it on draft and take home a growler – drink specials on Wednesdays! Cielito Lindo on site through the evening.

Isley Brewing Hoptical Illusion

Isley will tap a dry hopped version of their latest beer, a Farmhouse Ale.

Legend Bourbon Barrel Release Party

Legend will tap two bourbon barrel aged beers along with two new cask beers.

Legend NBE Bourbon barrel tappings

Lickinghole Creek Spiced Batchelor’s Delight

LCCB is tapping a cask condition pin of their rum barrel quad, Batchelor’s Delight, spiced with orange peel, vanilla beans, nutmeg, allspice, and black peppercorns. Somebody please bring me some of this beer to The Jefferson tonight. It sounds amazing!

Midnight Christmas in July

Christmas at Midnight, one of my favorite beers out of this Goochland brewery returns for one night only. It’s also their “Flat 4” night so beers are $4 each. While you’re there, try the official Virginia State Fair beer, Virginia Midway.

Rusty Beaver Country Road Wet Hopped Harvest Ale

Rusty Beaver in Ruther Glen will tap a wet hopped beer that was brewed using an early harvest of hops from their Country Road Hop Farm just 6 miles from the brewery. The hop farm will be the site of RB’s future larger production facility.

Strangeways Wake Me Up Before You Gose with Hibiscus

Number 3 of Strangeways’ first anniversary beers gets a dose of flower power. Try it out along with their other anniversary beers and curiosities.

Mid July Heat Buster!. It’s hot as blazes so we have some cool curiosities for ya. If you did not get a chance to taste our 3 anniversary beers (and the curiosity versions), this would be a great time to do so as all tasting goblets are one low price.

Triple Crossing Kill The Lights Black IPA & Trivia

Triple Crossing will host Trivia Night RVA and release their latest beer, Kill the Lights Black IPA.
