The Veil Brewing’s Grand Opening This Saturday Is So Fancy…But You Already Knew

image

Richmond, we’re in the fast lane to The Veil Brewing‘s grand opening this Saturday April 16th from 11am to 11pm. From moment the Veil landed on Facebook, we have seen little peaks inside the mind of Matt Tarpey. (Fun fact: if you’ve interacted with them on Facebook, you were speaking directly to Matt. He has been running their social media from day one.) Saturday though, the gates swing wide open. Let’s go through a few of their updates to see what to expect.

First off, there will be four beers on tap:

  • Sleeping Forever — Imperial Stout (next year’s release will have bourbon barrel version blended in)
  • Dull Fangs — IPA with Galaxy & Nelson hops and organic grapefruit
  • Master Shredder (guitar not evil TMNT villain) — wheat IPA; year round flagship
  • Crucial Taunt — double IPA

Let’s get the rest of your questions out of the way.

Can I get these beers to go? Yes. Yes, you can. No growlers though.

What about glassware? How do you feel about gold and platinum?

Will there be shirts? Limited realness.

Posters? Why wouldn’t there be posters?

Ok, smart guy. What about food and entertainment? ZZQ, Stroops, Boka, and two DJs. Yeah, it’s that kind of party.

Go Into The Wild With Ardent Craft Ales & Blue Bee Cider At Saison Market Tonight

Check out this special tapping at Saison Market tonight Monday, March 28th starting at 5pm.

Two one of a kind offerings from Ardent & Blue Bee and a few more great Ardent Beers.

Ardent is bringing over a barrel fermented Wild Ale whose barrel formerly aged Catoctin Creek Rye and then Blue Bee Cider. The gents at Ardent let wort ferment as it would in that barrel, and the result is a lightly tart, peachy, wine-like 9% Wild ale.

Blue Bee is bringing a super small batch Grimes Golden Cider fermented in apple Brandy barrels that was then blended with the indomitable Hewe’s Crab apple juice and allowed to ferment wildly. It was then allowed to age on lees for months.

We are very excited that our friends would share their more eccentric stuff with us, and you all do not want to miss it!

Who’s Got Spirit? Hardywood That’s Who!

Hardywood Spirit BraidSpirit Braid that is.

Celebrating the next installment of our Brewer & Artist Series, we present the work of Nick Walthall and Sara Gossett:

Hardywood Spirit Braid is a well attenuated, highly effervescent saison brewed with organic raw wheat from Grapewood Farm in Montross, Virginia. Seville and Cara Cara oranges bring brightness and a touch of acidity. Fermented in stainless with a blend of Nick’s favorite brewers yeast and Brettanomyces claussenii, this beer is unfiltered, 100% bottle conditioned, and is designed to be a crusher. 5.2% alcohol by volume.

Sara Gossett is an artist from Texas who has been living in Richmond, VA for nearly ten years. Working primarily with watercolor, she loves vintage style and design and is heavily inspired by everything from the eras of Art Nouveau and Art Deco to poster art and illustration from the 1960’s & ‘70’s, hand lettering, and decorative pattern from all over the world. She also loves music, from playing the flute to playing records at the occasional DJ gig.
See more at saragossett.com & on Instagram @saragossett

Spirit Braid will be available on draft, bottles and 4-packs beginning at 2pm, with NY Style food truck through the evening.
